Intra aici pentru a semna o petitie initiata de o europarlamentara din Marea Britanie, Liz Lynne, pentru promovarea unei viitoare directive europene care sa scoata discriminarea in afara legii, pe tot cuprinsul Uniunii Europene. In programul de lucru pentru 2008, Comisia Europeana a promis ca va inainta o directiva care sa implementeze principiul tratamentului egal si in afara relatiilor de munca. Se pare insa ca aceasta propunere se loveste de opozitia unor state membre si chiar a presedintelui Comisiei Europene.
In its Work Programme for 2008 the European Commission said it would bring forward a Directive implementing the principle of equal treatment outside employment. But this historic proposal is now under threat. Objections seem to be coming from the President of the EU Commission and from Governments of many Member States. Show support for an ‘own initiative’ report by UK MEP Liz Lynne currently going through the European Parliament which calls for a comprehensive new anti-discrimination directive as a top priority.
